About Priory Prep
Welcome to The Priory Preparatory School, an environment that maximises conditions of learning for our pupils and encourages teachers to demonstrate the full range of their skills and knowledge. Although we are only in our second year as a school, we are fully committed to establishing standards of excellence that will set us apart as a centre of education. Our main goal as educators is to ensure that our children are happy learners. In The Priory Preparatory School we believe that students are happiest when they are engaged, challenged , excited and motivated by learning.
Currently we have children aged 4 to 8. These children will remain with us until they are 11 years old when they will move onto secondary school. Please call the office 08091195392 for more information about admissions.
Teaching and LearningJolly Phonics: Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve. For further information, please visit www.jollylearning.co.ukThe Big Write: Big Writing is a methodology that is highly enjoyable and motivating and – when done right – has an immediate impact for all children. Proven and effective, Big Writing is the perfect teaching method to raise standards in writing. It helps teachers to support their pupils as they learn and develop the ideas, vocabulary and higher level grammatical structures needed to improve their writing almost entirely through talk. Please see http://www.andrelleducation.com/big-writing/ for more details.Maths CurriculumWe follow the UK National Curriculum and very much believe that the children need to become familiar and comfortable with mathematical vocabulary before they can navigate most areas of numeracy proficiently. We are also eager to allow those who have an aptitude for Maths to move on at their own pace rather than that set by the curriculum. Thus differentiation is a key part to the teaching and learning at Priory.
We believe that the distinctive international character of The Priory Preparatory School reflects the commitment of the school to raising children’s awareness of cultural diversity, global interdependence and the responsibilities of citizenship.Apply Now!
